For over 40 years, MATF has presented outstanding community theatre productions. We have sought to not only entertain, but also to provide a venue in which, through performance or backstage participation, individuals can learn and grow. Thanks to MATF, non-mainstream films from the Toronto International Film Festival Circuit are featured at Galaxy cinema. These have been incredibly popular and frequently sold out. Several years ago, we made the decision to build our own facility. Located at 12 Brammer Drive, it is our home and provides a combination of reherasal and workshop space. This was a visionary decision of which we are immensely proud. We are also proud of our community contributions in the form of property taxes, Opera House bookings (we are their principal community client) and purchases from local retailers. Furthermore, we have been a valuable resource for other community and high school theatre groups, providing costumes, set pieces and rehearsal space. As well, summer professional theatre, an important tourist asset, has found a seasonal home in our facility. Mariposa Arts Theatre Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that benefits immensely from the support of people like you. You support our theatre and movie offerings, but you also contribute so generously during our fund raising campaigns, campaigns made necessary by our need to complete our facility and to improve our product. Thanks to all of you, for without our patrons, MATF would not survive.

The Mariposa Arts Theatre Foundation is now in its sixth year of running and maintaining the expansive rehearsal hall and workshop (located at 12 Brammer Road in Orillia ). This building was made possible by donations from many people in Orillia and area dedicated to keeping theatre alive in Orillia . Originally, the Mariposa Arts Theatre Foundation was established to bring the theatre to Orillia and bring the Orillia Opera House back into its days of glory by making it a functioning theatre once again. The success of the Opera House and of Mariposa Arts Theatre Foundation can only be attributed to the hard work of many individuals over the last 40 years that kept this dream alive. In order to keep this dream alive and to keep quality theatre productions to grace the stages of the Orillia Opera House, the support of the community is always needed. Whether by attending MAT film nights, MAT stage productions, supporting the various fund-raising activities or by contributing funds to the Mariposa Arts Theatre Foundation, MAT requires that you be there for us, and the Foundation will continue to give back to the community by producing quality theatre productions, bringing festival quality films to the Galaxy Cinema, and by enriching the community of Orillia and area with its artistic endeavours.  

Current projects that we require funds for (our list of “nice to have” but currently under funded) include paving the parking lot, landscaping the exterior grounds and further construction to finish off the rehearsal hall (painting, shelves etc.).  The Foundation is always willing to accept any gifts to further our cause. MATF is a charitable Foundation and tax receipts will be provided for donations.
