FALL 2016 Return! Orillia
Film night is taking a break! The summer is upon us and we at MAT will be taking a break from our usual work... but, we will be looking for great films for the 2016-2017 film series from the Toronto International Film Festival.
Thanks for coming out, and for checking back here. If you are on the MAT mailing list, you will be notified by e-mail of the 'next' new film in the Fall.
Mariposa Arts Theatre's November production of
Waiting for the Parade
Set in Calgary during World War II, John Murrell’s much-loved play reminds us that the wounded are not always at the front. Five women gather to work for the war effort while the men they love are away. In a series of episodic, snapshot vignettes, the play focuses on the women who shared a common purpose: to serve the war effort and perhaps more importantly, to survive the war.
Actors are needed to play Catherine, Janet, Margaret, Eve and Marta, whose ages range twenties to fifties.
Director James Fairbairn will hold auditions Fri June 17 at 7.00pm in the Phil Hull Rehearsal Hall, 12 Brammer Drive, Orillia, (and again on Sat June 18 at 9.00am for those who really can’t make the Friday).
It would be helpful to let producer John Caryl know if you’re trying out (705 327 9759 or firstname.lastname@example.org).
Mariposa Arts Theatre Foundation (MAT) is thrilled to announce its 2016-2017 season!
Once again, we are delighted to be offering one of our most exciting seasons yet. Building on the success of our hugely popular fall 2015 production of You’ll Get Used to It!. The War Show, we begin our new season with Waiting for the Parade, followed by Death and the Maiden, and ending with Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.
It will be a season to remember. We are sticking to what we are all about: plays that entertain, challenge, and delight, while giving us something to think about.
